Privacy policy

Privacy Policy

This explains what personal information we collect at trycomfortculture.com, why, who we share it with, and the control you have. We handle your information under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and any other privacy law that applies to you.

At a glance

  • Who's responsible: Comfort Culture, operated by NZ Supps Limited (NZ company number 9436029, NZBN 9429053734525). Reach us at support@trycomfortculture.com or +64 27 561 6261.
  • Why we collect it: to process and deliver your orders, run and secure the store, support you, meet our legal obligations, and, only with your consent, send marketing.
  • Your control: unsubscribe from marketing any time, manage cookies via the banner or your browser, and ask us to access, correct or delete your information.

What we collect

  • You give us: name, email, phone, billing and shipping address, what you ordered and your order history, plus any messages, return requests and marketing preferences. Payment card details are handled by Shopify and the payment provider. We never receive your full card number.
  • Collected automatically: device and usage data such as IP address, browser and device type, cookie and pixel data and pages viewed, collected through cookies, pixels and similar tags, used for essential store functions, security, fraud prevention, preferences, analytics and (where permitted) advertising measurement.
  • From others: Shopify, payment, delivery/tracking, analytics and advertising providers, or anyone who orders on your behalf, used only for that order, support, security, measurement or legal purpose.

Required fields are marked when we ask for them; if you don't provide what's needed to process an order or request, we may not be able to provide that service.

How we use and share it

We use your information to take payment, fulfil, deliver and track orders, manage returns and refunds, run and secure the store, support you, prevent fraud, meet legal and tax obligations, and send marketing where you've consented. We share it only as needed with service providers who help us operate, such as Shopify, payment processors, delivery and tracking providers, analytics and advertising providers, support tools and professional advisers. We may also disclose it when required by law or as part of a lawful business transfer. We do not sell personal information for money. Sharing information with advertising partners may be treated as a sale, sharing or targeted advertising under applicable privacy law. You can opt out using our Your Privacy Choices page and cookie settings.

Google Customer Reviews: after you place an order, you may be offered the option to take part in Google Customer Reviews. Taking part is optional. If you opt in, we share your email address, order number, delivery country and estimated delivery date with Google so it can email you a short survey about your purchase. Google handles that information under the Google Privacy Policy, and its opt-in may use cookies. If you don't opt in, nothing is shared for this purpose.

Cookies and your choices

Cookies are small files placed on your device. Shopify and the services we enable use cookies and similar technologies in four groups:

  • Strictly necessary: keep your cart, checkout, country/currency and security working. These can't be switched off, as the store wouldn't function without them.
  • Preference: remember choices like your country, language, or that you've answered the cookie notice.
  • Analytics: help us see how the site is used so we can improve it (Shopify analytics and, where enabled, Google Analytics).
  • Marketing: set by services such as Google, Meta, Microsoft Advertising and Pinterest, where enabled, to measure our ads and show you relevant Comfort Culture ads elsewhere.

Our cookie notice offers Reject optional, Accept all and Customise. Optional preference, analytics and marketing choices start off. Essential store and checkout cookies remain active. Your choices are passed to Shopify's customer-privacy controls. Use Cookie settings in the footer to review or withdraw consent at any time; withdrawing a previous permission reloads the page to stop optional scripts. Where your browser sends Global Privacy Control, marketing and data sharing stay off. Your consent choice is stored on this device.

Shopify provides the store and checkout and processes data as described in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy. Essential fraud prevention and security services remain active when optional cookies are rejected.

Personalised advertising

Advertising integrations include Google, Meta, Microsoft Advertising and Pinterest. Optional advertising tracking requires your marketing-cookie permission. They tell us which ads led to a visit or a sale, and let those platforms show Comfort Culture ads to people who visited the site or bought from us, alongside their own audience data. We never send them your card details. To stop personalised ads from us, decline marketing cookies in our banner, use Google's Ads Settings or Meta's Ad Preferences, or email support@trycomfortculture.com and we will exclude you from any customer list we upload.

Your choices and how to opt out

  • Marketing: click unsubscribe in any marketing email, or email support@trycomfortculture.com and we'll remove you. Every message identifies Comfort Culture (NZ Supps Limited) as sender.
  • Cookies: manage or decline non-essential cookies via the banner or your browser settings.
  • Access, correct or delete: email support@trycomfortculture.com and we'll action valid requests within the time the law requires. We may need to verify your identity first.

International processing, retention and security

Some providers may process information outside New Zealand; where required we use safeguards comparable to those the Privacy Act 2020 requires. We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted checkout through Shopify, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

How long we keep it:

  • Order, payment and tax records: 7 years from the order date, as New Zealand tax law requires.
  • Support messages and return requests: 2 years after the matter is closed.
  • Marketing data: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only your email address on a suppression list so we never add you again.
  • Cookie and analytics data: cookie lifetimes vary by service. Microsoft advertising cookies may remain for up to 390 days (about 13 months); other observed optional cookies remain for up to 12 months. Cookie expiry is separate from provider-side data retention. Contact us for provider-specific retention information or a deletion request.

We delete or anonymise records we control when their retention period ends. Providers apply their own retention schedules; cookie expiry alone does not delete provider-held data.

Your New Zealand privacy rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask whether we hold information about you, request access, and ask us to correct it (and attach a statement of correction if we don't). Contact us to exercise a right. Other rights may apply where you live. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner about a New Zealand privacy concern.

Your rights under GDPR and CCPA

If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, the UK GDPR and EU GDPR apply to you. Our lawful bases are: performing your contract (taking and delivering your order), meeting legal obligations (tax and consumer law), your consent (marketing emails, analytics and marketing cookies, which you can withdraw at any time) and our legitimate interests (keeping the store secure and preventing fraud). You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to complain to your local supervisory authority, including the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

If you are in California, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information. Marketing pixels can count as "sharing" under California law, and you can opt out through our cookie banner. We honour Global Privacy Control signals through Shopify's customer-privacy settings. We will never treat you differently for exercising a privacy right.

To use any of these rights, email support@trycomfortculture.com or use our contact form. We may ask you to confirm your identity, and we respond within the time the relevant law allows.

Children's information

Privacy protections apply regardless of age. The store isn't designed to collect more information from children than needed to provide it. Purchases by minors should involve a parent or guardian. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information inappropriately.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to our practices, services or legal obligations. This policy was last updated on 14 September 2026. The current version and its date are always shown on this page.
